Surf & Sabotage
Banished Atlas creates dice and other tabletop role-playing game products. The Canberra creator set out to transform their notebook scribbles and annotations from game sessions into a campaign setting titled Surf & Sabotage: Welcome to the Opal Coast.
Surf & Sabotage is a fantasy world set on a sparkling coastline, where adventurers encounter mysterious artefacts and mischievous figures. During the initial stages of the project, I collaborated with the creative team to select characterful typefaces, layouts, colours, and graphic elements that embodied the heart of the story. I developed a lookbook to inform design decisions across print and digital - ensuring social media posts, Kickstarter pages, and email campaigns reflected the style of the final publication. By including artwork from the book and voices of the team, the short video I crafted immersed viewers in the fantasy world of Kylas.
After the 214-page book was successfully funded on Kickstarter, I led the Banished Atlas team through print production and fulfilment. The laid-back campaign setting is now being used by over 150 backers to bring their own wondrous stories to life.
